Three Forks Rodeo

Hi friends and rodeo fans,

As you know, the 2020 Three Forks Rodeo was one we were really looking forward to (and we hope you were too). We couldn’t wait for you to enjoy the rodeo from our brand new grandstands. But unfortunately, plans changed. On July 28th, the Three Forks City Council unanimously decided to cancel the 2020 rodeo due to safety concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We here at the Rodeo Arena Board have been working to try to make it happen this year. We initially rescheduled it for later in the summer, hoping Montana would move to Phase 3 of reopening by then. But sadly, it’s out of our hands.

While we can’t get together in person, we are looking for other ways to celebrate the spirit of the event. That is why we hope you’ll consider joining us during a virtual gathering with some surprise guests planned for a date this fall. We will also be giving away some fun door prizes that night, like boxes of 100 1/3# Angus beef patties and a Henry Golden Boy Rifle.

As you know, the Three Forks Rodeo has been a tradition in our small town since 1946. Each year, we love hosting locals and visitors alike as we celebrate this annual tradition. If you’ve been to the rodeo, you probably remember the old bleachers, which were donated 40 years ago when Montana State University upgraded bleachers inside the fieldhouse. Those seats long outlived their usable life, and for the past 18 years, we have been saving to replace them. This January, we began the project to acquire new ADA accessible bleachers to improve guest safety and accessibility. We had planned for this year’s rodeo to help cover the cost of the bleachers. But unfortunately, circumstances threw a wrench in our plans. While we can’t get together in person, we would ask that you consider donating the $15 you would have spent on your rodeo ticket to the fundraising efforts for the new bleachers. Your tax-deductible donation towards this project will have a significant impact on the community and will be appreciated by rodeo goers for years to come. Please visit our Bleacher Backer page to learn more. We appreciate your continued support of the Three Forks Rodeo, especially during these unprecedented times.

Please watch for upcoming news on our fall virtual gathering and follow us on social media. We look forward to when we can get together again in person.

We are RV travelers from St Petersburg Florida, now at West Yellowstone MT. We would love to attend a rodeo. We plan on leaving West Yellowstone on the 17 th. We have a forty four foot motor home and need to find an RV park in your area first before we order tickets. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We have a very nice campground located just outside of Three Forks. A former KOA, Camp Three Forks is independently owned and operated. You can call for reservations at 406-285-3611 or look them up online at Hope this helps!

There is also Lewis and Clark State Park about a 20 minute drive from Three Forks. It would be wise to look online for a reservation for a rig of your size.

Is your Rodeo always the 3rd weekend in July?

    Thank you!

    • admin  says:

Yes. It gets a bit tricky when the 1st of July falls on a Sunday. In that case, it would be considered the first weekend. The dates for the 2014 rodeo will be July 18th & 19th.

Are you going to be having any mini bull riding at the rodeo?

    • admin  says:

We do not have mini bulls at this year’s rodeo. However, there will be a kids event during intermission. We call it a goat scramble where kids from the audience are invited to participate in catching a cash-coated goat (there will be multiple goats) in the arena.

I’ll add that to the NRA Rodeo tab this morning. Thank you!
